I.Am.Super.Girl by Denyque

I made a pledge to ALWAYS promote Caribbean music in any and every way that I could. Today I downloaded the first mixtape by reggae aritiste Denyque aka Super Girl! I’ve been a fan of Denyque’s music since I heard her on the Feminine Riddim (produced by Don Corleon) with her record “Pieces” in 2009. It was after hearing that first tune that I knew Denyque was going to be one of the newest female singjay to take the Caribbean music industry by storm. Denyque has an amazing voice and her lyrics are extremely relatable, which are two key elements to producing a great record. I am currently in my third rotation of the #IAmSuperGirl which is the title of Denyque’s first mixtape.

The mixtape includes her cuts on the Pleasure Riddim (produced by Cash Flow Recordz), Ghetto Lifestyle Riddim (produced by Romeich Records) and the City Life Riddim (produced by 2 Hard Music) to name a few. She also included two remixes over the Marvin’s Room and Lotus Flower Bomb instrumentals. I have heard most of the tunes on this mixtape as the riddims had been released previously; however, my favorite Denyque tune of all-time and on the mixtape will forever be “Hooked On Me” – it is just one of those records I, as a woman, can really relate to. I sometimes find myself thinking exactly the way the lyrics in this song go.

I highly recommend that you download this mixtape, whether you’ve heard any of the tunes before or not – it’s always great to refresh yourself on the music and support the artiste, same way. If you’re hearing about Denyque for the first time, this mixtape is a great introduction for you. It was mixed by a Sound System straight outta Jamaica, Razz n Biggy – you should know how much I love a good SS 😉
